When do we stop using the excuses, "This was my only way out.", "I didn't have any other options.", "I didn't choose the streets, the streets chose me." Life is a multiple choice test, there are so many options once you open your eyes. How many friends do you have to lose to these streets before you realize, there is another way out, there is a better way. I've seen so many brothers leave here because they were too blind to see their other options. I'm not perfect, I've done ...my fair share of dirt, I'm just thankful I was able to see the light before it was too late. I want everybody out there to analyze your situation, look at your options, and if all else fails, ask questions. There are plenty brothers that have been where you've been and done what you've done and escaped that life, reach out and ask questions because I'm sure they don't have any problems with helping another brother find his way.
Stop making excuses and start creating solutions. I remember feeling like my only way out was the drug game, then I discovered my musical talent. Some times I feel like we choose what seems like the easy way out. It might seem easier to sell that dope than to apply yourself and chase those dreams. Because when you do the math, most drug dealers actually earn less than minimum wage and risk their freedom for crumbs. The same time you invest in negativity could be applied to starting your own business or helping clean up your community. We've got to cut out the excuses and start making better choices. The future depends on the moves we make today. Our children are depending on us, our grandkids are depending on us. If we don't make a better way for them, no one else will. We must educate ourselves and spread the knowledge through out our communities.
